Alleghany Highlands Public Schools is recognizing three individuals connected to the school division who were named to the Winter 2026 Serve Virginia Honor Roll. 

An Alleghany Highlands Public Schools teacher has been appointed to a state advisory group focused on education policy in Virginia. 

Alleghany High School Principal Derek Cantrell was recognized April 18 in Washington, D.C., as the 2026 Virginia High School Principal of the Year during the National Association of Secondary School Principals’ Leadership Awards Gala
